Personal Protective Equipment
Participants will learn about the proper selection, use and care of required PPE as well as applicable standards.
Duration: 4 hours

Fall Arrest
To provide participants with instruction on proper anchor points, inspection, donning, care and use of fall arrest harnesses as well as considerations for post fall rescue and applicable standards.

Respiratory Protection
Participants will learn about the requirements for a proper respiratory protection program. Participants will be instructed on proper selection, donning and care of their respirators. If requested a qualitative fit test can be conducted and fit test records provided.

Self Contained Breathing Apparatus
Participants will learn about the requirements for a proper respiratory protection program. Participants will be instructed on how to don and wear the SCBA. Maintenance and inspection requirements will also be covered.

Ladder / Scaffold Safety Awareness
Instruction will be provided on safe ladder/scaffold use. Including proper selection, inspection, footing, positioning, work planning and hazard assessment before beginning the job.

Power / Hand Tools Awareness
Instruction will be given on the hazards associated with various power tools and hand tools. The course will include the recommended safe work practices when using the tools.
Duration: 4 hours

Fire Extinguisher
Participants will learn about the fire tetrahedron, different classes of fire extinguishers and the proper method of using an extinguisher to put out a fire.
Duration: 4 hours

Electrical Safety Awareness
Upon completion, participants will be able to recognize the safe work practices needed to minimize electrical hazards for all trades on the jobsite. Topics include:
- Review of legislation
- Selection, inspection, and use of extension cords
- Circuit testers, GFCIs, and power tools
- Temporary lighting and service panels
- Lockout procedures and practices

Lockout / Tag Out
Participants will learn about the applicable legislation in standards requiring equipment to be neutralized. Instruction will be provided on the elements of a proper Lockout/Tag Out program as well as procedure development.

Trenching and Excavation Safety - NEW!
Cave-ins pose the greatest risk and are much more likely than other excavation related accidents to result in worker fatalities.
Other potential hazards include falls, falling loads, hazardous atmospheres, and incidents involving mobile equipment.
Trench collapses cause dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries each year. The Trenching and Excavation training course will address the Occupational Health & Safety trenching and excavation requirements. The training shall enable participants to recognize hazards associated with trenching and excavation and the protective measures and equipment required prior to entering a trench and excavation.
Duration: 4 hours

Lockout / Tag Out Program
Consultant will assess machinery requiring lockout procedures and specific procedures will be written up. A policy will also be developed outlining the entire program requirements. A hard copy and an electronic copy will be provided.

Manage Respiratory Protection Programs
Consultant will assess respiratory protection requirements and will develop a program that will outline the equipment to be used, maintenance, training and review requirements for the respiratory protection. A hard copy and an electronic copy will be provided.

Personal Protective Equipment Program Effectiveness Audit
Consultant will tour the workplace and observe employees for the proper use of required PPE. Consultant will also assess if the proper PPE is being used. A written report will be provided outlining recommendations.

Quantitative Fit Testing - NEW!
Synergy provides both qualitative and quantitative fit test methods to comply with CSA Z94.4-02.
An employer shall ensure fit testing is done on a respirator prior to use. The definition of a respirator could be a half mask, full face mask or an N-95 mask. Testing should also be completed at a minimum of every two years or if a different size, model or type of respirator is needed. The quantitative fit test procedure uses an instrument that samples and measures airborne particulates inside the mask.
